We are extremely proud to announce that, as of today, we have become the first national furniture retailer to achieve Certified Company status under the Furniture Industry Research Association’s (FIRA) new Compliance Scheme for the Fire Performance of Upholstered Furniture.
This certification means the nationwide furniture and flooring specialist meets all relevant Compliance Scheme Criteria, verified by an independent audit, and reassures customers that ScS has suitable processes and procedures in place to demonstrate the necessary due diligence to ensure ongoing compliance with the UK’s Furniture & Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) Regulations (FFFSR).
Ian Allcock, Legal Compliance Manager at ScS, said: “As a responsible retailer safety is of utmost priority to us and we have had a well-established product testing programme in place for many years, with leading accredited specialist testing laboratories.
“We’re pleased to have been able to raise the bar and standards even higher by meeting the rigorous audit standards as set out by FIRA under the new scheme. Being the first national retailer to achieve certified company status will ensure our customers can buy with added confidence and demonstrates our long-term commitments to the very highest levels of fire safety standards.”
Phil Reynolds, Director of the Furniture Industry Research Association said “It’s great to welcome ScS as the first Certified Company of the new compliance scheme.
“The Research Association dedicated a lot of expertise and resource to this new scheme, and in development it was crucial that the scheme would directly support manufacturers, retailers and consumers. To launch the scheme with a Certified Company is a great success, and demonstrates there is a need across the furniture supply chain to support due diligence and bridge gaps between potential misunderstandings of Regulations.”
