ScS: Stock Market Flotation

David Knight, ScS Chief Executive, was joined by employees from across the business on a special visit to the capital to witness him officially open the London Stock Exchange. In this post, we go behind the scenes and get all the news and views from those who attended.

The market was officially opened on Friday 30 January as David Knight put the final piece of the jigsaw into place to celebrate our listing and the first IPO of 2015.

The London Stock Exchange is one of the world’s oldest stock exchanges and can trace its history back more than 300 years. Starting life in the coffee houses of 17th century London, the stock exchange quickly grew and is regarded today as the City’s most important financial institution.LSE_SCS_119

London Stock Exchange has consistently led the way in developing a strong, well-regulated stock market and today lies at the heart of the global financial community.

National Flooring Operations Manager, Keith Morgan said: ‘What an amazing experience. The whole thing was a once in a lifetime opportunity. Counting down to the stock market trading for the day and knowing ScS was a part of it made me feel proud to be part of ScS’.

Hard work and determination are what has allowed us to open for trading on the London Stock Exchange. As a business, we’ve made various improvements over the past six years, including; the introduction of carpets, the addition of various brands such as Parker Knoll and G Plan and launched our fantastic new website.

We are now a bigger and better business with more diverse revenue streams demonstrated in particular by the success of brands with our sofa offering, as well as our floor offering. We are now well placed to capitalise on this growth and are delighted that our initial public offering has been successful and we have returned to the London Stock Exchange.’

The event which took place in the London Stock Exchange building saw the ScS brand take prominence for the day, with screens displaying the company logo in key locations. The glass moment is a pride of place in our head office reception.

Marie Liston, HR Director said: ‘It was a fantastic and unique experience to be able to visit the Stock Exchange and celebrate our return to the market, another key milestone in the history of our company and it is a testament to the growth and progress we have made in recent years.’
