Five Interior Design Trends For Spring 2015

With lighter nights and brighter days drawing in, it seems like spring might finally be on its way after a long, cold winter. A lot of us are guilty of catching the DIY bug at this time of year, looking to inject some life back into our homes and add a pop of colour to reflect the change in seasons. We’ve rounded up some easy spring 2015 interior design trends to incorporate into your home and stay ahead of the latest trends.

Even better, most of these trends can easily be achieved with a lick of paint and affordable accessories, so you don’t have to spend fortunes to create your dream home.

Copper Blush

Pantone might have announced their colour of the year as Marsala, but Dulux recently revealed one of the top colours to channel throughout your home is copper blush – a warm, peachy pink that looks perfect as an accent shade. Although this vibrant copper colour looks just as good alone, team it with cooler shades of grey to channel contemporary Scandinavian style and add a hint of colour. Have a sleek statement wall or inject peachy tones through accessories.  Look for cushions, fabrics and small items in hues of pink for an affordable way to update your home.

Floral Prints

Floral prints are always a big trend for spring each year, but never underestimate the power of the flower. Choose a statement wall with bold, floral print wallpaper or incorporate it into your home through cushions, throws and arrangements; there are a whole host of ways to inject some spring bloom into your home. Look for hues of pink, lavender and peach for a muted floral look, adding a pretty, feminine touch to any room. For a cheaper alternative to fresh flowers, faux arrangements are available in a range of fashion colours that will last longer and look just as good around the home.

Pops of Colour

Although we’ve touched on the two key colours for 2015 – Marsala and Copper Blush – there are so many other on-trend colours, if pink is too feminine for your tastes. For a bold look, hues of blue, green and yellow look just as vibrant for spring. Botanical prints and tones of lime green look perfect paired with a contrasting charcoal wall to bring the outdoors in. If the thought of bold walls is too much, look for vibrant coloured accessories and finishing touches.

Mixed Metals

The golden rule for jewellery is never to mix your metals, but this springs designs trends are doing exactly that. Mix together elements of silver, gold and copper for a modern accessory look. The high street and online stores are filled with dainty accessories – candle holders, trays and trinkets, in metal hues that look chic dotted around the house to add a quirky touch. Warm tones of gold and copper look beautiful paired with most colours, but even better with neutral shades of white and grey.

Textures, Textures, Textures

Minimalist interiors are always on trend but with stark accessories, and not much furniture, they can almost look like a show home. But for busy working parents with children, this look might not be achievable. For your own take on the trend – incorporate muted, minimalist colour palettes with pops of colour and contrasting textures. Look for ethnic inspired rugs, throws and cushions for a vintage element or choose classic, geometric prints for a modern update.
